LAKE SIMCOE REGIONAL AIRPORT SOLAR PROJECT
In March 2016, the Ontario Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) awarded a power purchase contract to Invenergy LLC for the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport Solar Project. Invenergy is now in the process of obtaining Renewable Energy Approval (REA) for the project from the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, a process that takes several months. We will keep the community updated on the progress of the project through further reporting and consultation.
This page will provide information to interested parties on the project as it evolves, and links to documentation as it becomes available. We are committed to transparency, and want to promote a two-way exchange of information. We encourage you to send project questions or concerns to email@example.com.
Invenergy is proposing the development of an approximately 6.75 megawatt (MW) non-rooftop solar project, the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport Solar Solar Project, in the Township of Oro-Medonte. The project will connect to the existing 44 kilovolt circuit south of Highway 11 at 6th Line. The proposed project would be located on a section of underutilized land at the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport that is owned by the Cities of Barrie and Oro-Medonte. The project would be positioned to face south, not to interfere with the runway that runs east to west.
